Just blocks from the region's two main thoroughfares, Royal Oak is a city in its prime. Since the completion of I-696 in 1989, the community has become a hub for commerce, dining and entertainment. It is an increasing popular place to live, work, and play. An average weekend night brings a flood of roughly 20,000 visitors. Like many urban centers, Royal Oak values diversity. Its composition is truly eclectic, representing a wide range of nationalities, lifestyles, and values. People come to Royal Oak expecting to find coffee at Starbucks, live music and barbeque at Memphis Smoke, stir-fry at Mongolian, and a brew at Mr. B's. What people don't expect to find, but desperately need to encounter, is an urban church that makes Jesus real. A place where God is pursued, the arts are valued, the needy are cared for and the lost are found. Royal Oak is home to many things, but it's the last place people expect to find us. But, it's right where we want to be. The goal of Epicenter is to raise funds to purchase property in the heart of Royal Oak for the use as a ministry base.
